When Your Clients Ask You About a Car, You Shouldn’t Have to Guess
A vehicle resource for financial advisors in Colorado Springs — built on a relationship first.
The relationship first
I’m Ronnie Haskins with RH Auto Brokers. I’m not looking for you to send me your clients. I’m looking to build a relationship with you — the same kind I have with Aaron Zimmerman, Matt Surma, and Lee Taylor.
Aaron has been my own financial planner for more than 20 years. Matt is my friend — we’ve worked out together daily for 12 years. Lee has bought multiple cars through me and trusts me with people from Woodland Park. In each case, the relationship came first. Being useful to their clients came out of that, over time.
I’d like to earn that same place with you — slowly, and only by being useful.
1 — The problem your clients bring you
Your clients trust you with their whole financial life, so when a vehicle decision comes up, they bring it to you — even though vehicles aren’t your job.
- A lease is ending, a car needs replacing, a repair bill lands, a family is outgrowing what they drive.
- You don’t want to guess at an answer, and you don’t want a client making an expensive vehicle decision that quietly works against the plan you built together.
- The process itself is broken. It consumes all of their time — and sometimes they still get the wrong answer, because they don’t have an unbiased guide for that one decision.
The vehicle is rarely just a vehicle. It shows up in the plan as a payment, a total cost, and a decision they have to live with for years.
2 — A guide you can know first
I know an introduction puts your name on the line. That’s why the relationship comes before any client ever does, and why I answer questions free whether anyone ever buys through me or not.
- An auto broker since 1998, in business in Colorado Springs since 2000; licensed dealer
- The advisors named above know me personally and already call me when a vehicle question comes up for a client
- Every number shown up front, including my profit
- My clients pay only when they’re happy with the result
Your client stays your client. My job is only the vehicle piece, and only when you and they want it.
3 — A simple plan
- Step 1 — Get to know each other first. A coffee or a quick visit at my office. I’d like to learn about your practice and the clients you enjoy working with most. No client involved, no agenda beyond that.
- Step 2 — When a vehicle question lands in your office, call or text me on my direct cell. Real answers, no charge, ever, and no sales pitch attached. Forward my answer to your client, or loop me in directly — whichever serves them better: what a vehicle is actually worth (trade, private party, or keep it); lease versus buy in real three-year numbers; whether the payment and total cost are helping the plan or quietly hurting it; repair it or replace it; a car in an estate, a divorce, or an inheritance; a business or year-end purchase your client can bring back to you in plain numbers.
- Step 3 — Only if your client wants more help. And only with your introduction. Then I help them think it through first — which vehicle, lease or own, what it really costs over three years — and, if they decide to go ahead, I handle the whole acquisition so they don’t waste a Saturday trying to buy or lease a car. I answer free, I don’t chase them, and I’ll keep you posted only if they ask me to.
What you can count on
- Answers are free. No charge for information, ever.
- You have my direct cell — not the office line. This number is for advisors I’m building a relationship with; when you call, you get me.
- No pitch, no chase, no obligation.
- Every number up front.
- Your client’s trust in you is the point — a good vehicle answer should strengthen it, not risk it.
4 — What success looks like
Failure to avoid: your client guesses, overpays in time and money, or ends up with a payment that pulls at the plan you built.
Success: your client gets the right answer, makes a decision that fits their plan, and knows their advisor had the right person to call. You get a client who feels well taken care of — and one less thing pulling at their financial plan.
